Owen Hart was one of the best talents the company has ever had and was involved in a feud with Triple H in the early 1998. The feud involved the European Championship, which Triple H had lost to Owen Hart, but not directly; instead, Owen had beaten Goldust, who was disguised as Triple H, on an episode of RAW in January 1998.

During an interview with Peter Rosenberg in 2009, Triple H stated that Owen Hart was a wonderful talent, but he didn’t take things too seriously, which was the source of the animosity between Owen and Bret, as Bret Hart took things seriously.

Triple H went on to say that Owen Hart never regarded pro wrestling as a way to generate money and provide for his family, and that Owen occasionally thought he was done with it. The Game indicated that being a top person required greater dedication as far as responsibility was concerned, but Owen wasn’t serious.

Triple H said that there is much more to having the title of champion than simply becoming one. He said that he doesn’t believe Owen was ready to put up the necessary work to have the opportunity to hold the title. The Game claimed that, despite everything, he still thinks Owen Hart was among the finest wrestlers he has ever shared the ring with.

“He was an incredible talent, but he just didn’t take things too seriously, and I think that there was a bit of animosity between him and Bret because Bret took things so seriously. I just don’t think- Owen saw this as a career where he could make some money, take care of his family, and then he was done with it. I think that being a top guy required a lot more commitment time-wise, responsibility-wise.”

Owen Hart died in May 1999, when he fell during his entrance from the rafters. The cause of his death was internal bleeding due to blunt force trauma. Owen was a two time intercontinental champion and one time European Champion during his time in WWE.
