“It was because of Vince McMahon” When The Icon Sting explained why he was RELUCTANT to join WWE
Sting in AEW
Sting has been a Wrestling Icon throughout his wrestling career he was famously known to wrestle very well in the ring and more importantly he was known for wrestling in WCW and after the closing of the company not agreeing to go to WWE. Sting was a WCW legend and everybody knew some controversy is there but never knew the full reason.
Sting is a huge superstar and has won the WCW championship NWA Championship and even the TNA World Heavyweight Championship making him the only superstar to hold all three of them once in their whole career. Sting in an interview discusses the problem of not going to WWE and revealed his original reason in an interview with JBL on the WWE network in 2016.
JBL asked what was the matter with Sting and WWE was it the loyalty he had for WCW or did he not like WWE Sting replied that it was not like he did not want to come to WWE or he did not like the company but he thought Vince McMahon sees him as a big star in WCW and only want to make him enter WWE to make WCW rating go down.
Sting continued and said he never saw that Vince was genuinely asking him to enter WWE just because of his talent his character work or even his popularity and just want him in the company to remove his opposition WCW out of the wrestling business. However even after ending his WCW career never stepped into WWE until 2015.
The world stood erect as Sting made his WWE debut
Sting’s debut in WWE took place when no one ever expected it. The Vigilante shocked the whole world when he stepped into a WWE ring after WCW ended a decade ago. The Icon made a legendary debut and even started a rivalry with the Game Triple H although he lost his debut match against him it was still a great debut.
Currently, he has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and has taken retirement from in-ring competition but this does not stop him from appearing in different roles as he is currently in AEW and doing a manager role. He is managing the wrestler Darby Allin who has a personality just like him and is a replica of the Icon.
