At WrestleMania 39, the wrestling world witnessed one of the greatest triple-threat matches for the Intercontinental championship. Drew McIntyre, along with Sheamus and the current champion, Gunther, delivered an absolute banger of a battle. Nonetheless, Drew and Sheamus both failed to capture the Gold. And The Ring General retained his title in a hard-hitting encounter. Fans were expecting to see the three gladiators face off again following their bout. However, Drew McIntyre surprisingly didn’t appear on SmackDown amid AEW speculations.
The SmackDown after WrestleMania 39 kicked off with another banger six-man tag match between The Brawling Brutes and The Imperium. In the end, Sheamus got his partial retribution as he made his group victorious over Gunther‘s Imperium. Meanwhile, the crowd was expecting Drew McIntyre to appear during or after the match as well.
However, The Scottish Warrior neither showed up in the ring nor did he appear in any backstage segments on the show. The disappearance of McIntyre from the show for obscure reasons left fans confused. Nevertheless, recent reports suggest the reason for the former two-time WWE champion’s absence from the show.
Some of the people reported that Drew has solicited some time off from WWE. Some other people in the wrestling community have been reporting that McIntyre has been dealing with medical concerns following WrestleMania 39. Although the reports could be true, the situation with The Scottish Warrior is ambiguous as of now. Hence, fans should stay tuned until WWE or Drew himself provides clarification regarding what is indeed going on.
