The current Women’s Tag Team Champions Piper Niven and Chelsea Green are enjoying their first-ever title reign in WWE. However, Niven is possibly suffering from an illness and was absent from Monday Night Raw this week. As a result, the WWE Universe is once again calling the Women’s Tag Titles cursed.

According to Fightful Select, Piper Niven will return soon from her illness. The 32-year-old is seemingly fine and does not need to vacate her title for the sake of her absence. While this report was provided, talks about the bad luck that comes with the women’s tag team championship rose to prominence.

This week on RAW, Adam Pearce officially announced that Niven has not been cleared to wrestle, leaving the responsibility on Chelsea Green itself. This saw Green going out on RAW on her own and fighting Raquel Rodriguez. However, Rodriguez won the match and demanded a rematch against Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship next week.

The alleged curse of women’s tag team championships is something that has benefited Piper last month. With Chelsea Green’s original partner Sonya Deville injured, WWE did not strip the titles. Instead, they proclaimed Niven as one-half of the tag champions. Chelsea Green is still the active champion right now and has to look after the matter alone.

The Women’s Tag Team Championship has been facing criticism for the last few months, with people calling it cursed. Due to unavoidable circumstances, many champions had to relinquish their titles. A recent example of it was when champion Lita was injured and replaced by Trish Stratus.

Becky Lynch and Stratus then teamed up and the latter filled in for Lita. But Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez gained the upper hand and won the championships from them. The titles were then vacated due to Morgan’s arm injury, and Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the titles in a four-way bout.

The return of Liv from the injury saw her team with Raquel regain the titles that they never lost. On an episode of Raw, their reign once again came to an end when Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green emerged victorious against them. However, Deville suffered an injury and went on hiatus. Piper Niven, then, replaced Sonya and currently holds the title.
