Survivor Series is right around the corner, and WWE doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned. They sparked a fire on this week’s SmackDown about what to expect at the namesake event this year. Jey Uso‘s arrival on his brand upset SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis. As a result, Aldis even imposed a fine of $10,000 on the former Right-Hand Man.

To ease things down a bit, Adam Pearce intervened and tried to restore peace. However, Nick Aldis asked his security to escort both Jey and Pearce out of the building. That pissed off the Raw GM, and he teased the games to begin. Fans thought WWE used that angle to ignite brand warfare. However, as per Dave Meltzer, WWE is not planning a WarGames match for Raw vs. SmackDown.

The report did not specify whether the company is planning any traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series matches. However, it’s a tad difficult to think so after the implicit tension between the general managers of Raw and SmackDown. Things will get more intense in the upcoming weeks as superstars will potentially switch brands. WWE did not opt for a brand supremacy concept for last year’s Survivor Series.

Instead, the company introduced WarGames on the main roster. The double-caged showdowns will take center stage this year too. However, some WWE fans have been clamoring for the return of the Raw vs. SmackDown concept in some capacity. WWE recently expanded the capacity of Allstate Arena, which will host the “Big 4” event in November. It will certainly have a different feel to it.

Randy Orton expected to return at Survivor Series

One of the biggest things to expect from this year’s Survivor Series is the return of Randy Orton. After being out for over 1.5 years due to a serious back issue, The Viper is ready to strike. As noted by WrestleVotes, new branding and merchandise have been approved for Orton by WWE. Moreover, his return will feature heavy social media promotion.

It could mean that the promotion would pre-announce his appearance for Survivor Series, as it seems. Despite all the ambiguities that kept producing dolorous developments regarding his progress, he’s finally coming back. It would have been the biggest heartbreak for Orton’s fans had he been forced into retirement.

In other news, some fans still expect CM Punk to show up at the event in Chicago. However, there haven’t been any talks between WWE and Punk and anyone certain about his comeback might be setting up for a disappointment.
