Catchphrases are one of the most integral elements of a WWE superstar. From The Rock to the Megastar LA Knight, catchphrases played a key role in catapulting these superstars’ popularity to another level. Another babyface superstar who reached new heights of fame with a catchphrase is Jey Uso. However, the superstar is apparently facing a major trademark issue pertaining to his popular catchphrase, “yeet.”
Main Event Jey Uso reached his full potential when the tag-team superstar finally parted ways with The Bloodline. He has metamorphosed himself into a full-fledged singles competitor since SummerSlam 2023. His ever-growing popularity hit a new peak when he came up with a new catchphrase, “yeet.” A recent report, however, suggests that the same phrase will be banned from WWE going forward.
According to the latest report from WrestleVotes, the 38-year-old will no longer be associating himself with the “yeet” word. This comes as an unfortunate result of a trademark problem the company recently encountered. As a result, WWE will no longer profit off of any merchandise based on the same word.
Uso first used the “yeet” word in the post-Fastlane press conference after winning the Undisputed Tag Team Championship with Cody Rhodes. The superstar, in an inebriated state, continually uttered the yeet word to depict his jovial and chirpy personality. The word immediately went viral, and the WWE Universe has been chanting it every time Uso makes his entrance.
Drew McIntyre takes implicit shot at Jey Uso after the ban on latter’s popular catchphrase
Drew McIntyre is determined to exact revenge on Jey Uso ever since the latter arrived in the red brand. The former vehemently believes that Uso is the cause of all of his hurdles in WWE in the last year. As a result, the 38-year-old is indignant at Jey getting a second chance so easily. Moreover, McIntyre recently poked fun at Jey Uso after his catchphrase was prohibited from use.
The 38-year-old got over with the WWE Universe in a massive way ever since he first used the word at the Fastlane media conference. WWE arena erupted in yeet chants each time Uso came out of the curtain. As a result, the word eventually became exclusive to Jey Uso. The company also released yeet-inspired merchandise on WWE Shop. Soon enough, the T-shirts began selling like hotcakes.
However, the word will no longer have any association with the Raw superstar. His arch-nemesis, Drew McIntyre, has taken the opportunity to make fun of Uso’s predicament. He recently shared a video of Jimmy Uso saying, “No Yeet” on X, taking a blistering shot at Main Event Jey Uso. Moreover, the Scottish Warrior totally annihilated the latter after his recent title match on Raw.
