The wrestling business is at its peak right now. For the past year or so, WWE and AEW broke several attendance and gate records. Recently, it came to light that WWE achieved a huge payout from the premium live event, Payback.
As per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Payback is the highest-grossing WWE event in the history of Pittsburgh, based on internal reports. Moreover, the company might release an official confirmation that will showcase every record set at Saturday’s event.
A few weeks ago, WWE broke the gate record for WrestleMania 40 through their ticket sales. Furthermore, almost every premium live event in the past year saw several milestones for the company. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to the audience, given their track record. Also, AEW shattered the attendance record at All In after securing almost 82,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, London.
Payback exceeded everybody’s expectations. Despite a lackluster build, the promotion delivered entertaining bouts and segments throughout the show. Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus and the Steel City Street Fight for the tag team titles stood out as the best moments of the night. Furthermore, the appearance of John Cena helped boost the overall quality of the event as well.
Fastlane on track to be sold out after Payback success
Another premium live event, another record broken. WWE has been doing well in terms of product quality and selling out arenas each week. After the success of Payback, the company looks ahead to the next event, Fastlane. WrestleTix recently reported that Fastlane already sold 11,000 tickets.
However, no information on the total number of available tickets was provided. Despite that, Fastlane in Indianapolis, Indiana, will most probably be sold out. Furthermore, the rumored appearance of John Cena will most definitely help in achieving the same.
As of now, WWE has confirmed no matches for the show. However, WWE has advertised superstars such as Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Rhea Ripley, and Seth Rollins for the premium live event.
