After months of teases, Edge and Beth Phoenix finally got face to face in the squared circle across The Judgment Day. The Grit couple was out of action for almost four months after Beth suffered a Con-chair-to at the hands of Rhea Ripley in October. Now, the Hall of Fame pairing finally got their revenge at Elimination Chamber.
Edge and Finn Balor traded some blows to kick off the match before tagging their female cohorts. Rhea and Beth followed up with hard-hitting clotheslines on each other, but both women refused to back down. Dominik, as expected, was at the ringside, getting involved in some shenanigans to aid The Judgment Day. Ironically, the 25-year-old superstar consistently got the biggest reactions from the Montreal crowd.
Dominik Mysterio became a heat magnet, getting multiple “F*ck you Dominik” chants from the crowd. At one point, it seemed that the unofficial third member of Judgement Day’s team might just steal the match for them. Dominik passed on the brass knuckles to Rhea Ripley behind the referee’s back, who used it to knock out Edge.
Beth Phoenix came to her husband’s aid, breaking up the pin. However, it seemed like a little mishap as the Glamazon arrived a little late, leaving the fans confused. The action picked up pace as the match moved to its final stage. Rhea Ripley was setting up Beth for another brutal Con-chair-to on top of the steel stairs. This time, though, the WWE Hall of Famer countered the attack and hit Mami with a Glam Slam on the outside. Edge followed suit and laid out Dominik with a dive before focusing his attention on Balor in the ring. The Hall of Famers adopted a maneuver out of FTR’s (former Revival) book as they used Shatter Machine to end the match.
The fans showered praise on Edge and Beth Phoenix after their victory
The WWE Universe was overjoyed with a fun mixed tag team match between the two feuding groups. The match acted as a refresher for all the fans in Montreal by being the only one of its type in the whole show.
While some fans were confused about why Rhea Ripley would be booked to lose the match, most of them felt happy for the married couple. People also praised their opponents to put up an excellent effort in defeat. Take a look at some of the best reactions from the fans on Twitter.
