Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have been putting some bangers on SmackDown weekly. However, in recent weeks, there seems to have been friction between the two. And according to reports, there might be a heel turn planned for one of them in the future.

As per Xero News on Twitter, WWE had discussed a heel turn for Drew McIntyre earlier this year. Xero tweeted, “At one point in recent months, WWE were discussing turning Drew McIntyre heel in 2023. No word if they are going to turn Mcintyre in the near future, could have changed, but they did discuss it.”

This will not be the first time the fans will get to see Drew McIntyre’s heel character, as he made his return to the main roster as a heel too. However, it will be a refreshing character for the Scottish Warrior after being the main event babyface for so long. The former WWE Champion has been a face since 2020, when he shocked everyone and won the Royal Rumble match.

The past few weeks seem to be fueling McIntyre’s heel turn even more as he grows apart from his fellow Brute Sheamus. While the two competitors have fought in the past as well, they grew closer as a result of the mutual respect they gained from their battles. Now, as both of them are eying the same prize, they have to go through each other once again.

On the last episode of SmackDown, the fatal five-way match to determine the #1 contender for Gunther’s Intercontinental title ended in a contentious manner. Sheamus and Drew McIntyre both pinned Xavier Woods and LA Knight at the same time, and both of them were declared winners. The former allies will have to settle their score next week as they will have a one-on-one match to decide who will face Gunther at WrestleMania.

According to some reports, the current plan for the Show of Shows is for Gunther to defend the Intercontinental title in a triple-threat match against both Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. The double-pin on SmackDown was thought to be a way around building to the match. Moreover, there could be some shenanigans next week as well if the plans remain the same. Whatever happens, if these two superstars are given time, they can tear the house down, not just next week but also at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
