The newest sensation from NXT, Tiffany Stratton, has become a prominent name in a very short time. In two years, she has already held the NXT Women’s Championship for over 100 days before dropping it to Becky Lynch. Stratton recently revealed that WWE had a hard time settling on a gimmick for her as they tried reserving the rights to use “Barbie” in her name.
While talking to ComicBook Nation, the 24-year-old revealed that she had plans to have a Barbie doll gimmick matching her character. “The whole Barbie stuff, I actually wanted to be called the ‘Buff Barbie Doll’ since the very beginning. I pitched the Barbie stuff for a while and they always told me that, ‘Oh, we can’t trademark Barbie. It’s already a thing,” she said.
Tiffany Stratton also provided a backstory behind the character, as she had gone viral on Snapchat a few years ago. People called her a “Buff Barbie doll,” which instantly connected with her. Hence, the 24-year-old wanted to incorporate that into her gimmick.
The NXT superstar thought the entire plan would make a lot of sense with the recently released Barbie movie. She also had plans of changing her look and wearing pink attire to the ring. However, it could not come to fruition as WWE failed to trademark this name.
The Minnesota native is earmarked for a lot of great things in WWE. While growing up, she followed the likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and other WWE female superstars. She believes these women paved the way for her generation to come in and perform on a higher level.
Tiffany Stratton reveals the reason for dropping “daddy’s little rich girl” character
Former NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton has been performing exceptionally on the top of NXT, as she is currently in a feud with Becky Lynch. She will take on Lynch in a rematch for her NXT title, which she lost to The Man a few weeks ago. Stratton had “Daddy’s Little Rich Girl” gimmick, where she portrayed her as a spoilt rich kid as a heel.
However, this did not last very long. The 24-year-old revealed while talking to Wrestling News Co. that “it works for a little bit until they’re like, we don’t have a daddy for you. So you’re not Daddy’s little rich girl.” Therefore, she then transformed into a different character, which has been successful so far.
The higher-ups were impressed by Tiffany Stratton’s performance against Lynch in their recent match. Stratton will face Lynch for her title at No Mercy over the weekend. The match outcome remains uncertain, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their showdown on Sunday to see who will emerge victorious.
