Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is arguably one of the biggest names in WWE history. Therefore, it is natural that a biopic was in the making based on the Hulkster’s life. It was later announced that Chris Hemsworth would be playing the role of Hulk Hogan. However, Hogan himself gave bad news to his fans.

While talking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, the 70-year-old revealed the reason. He said, “So it was a situation where business-wise, Netflix kind of like missed the date, you know, as far as a business situation. And so I had the choice at that time to switch gears.” Hogan added, “But all of a sudden there was a business glitch, you know, and then they tried to fix it a few days later. And I’d already decided to move on.”

Hogan expressed his hope that Todd Phillips and Chris Hemsworth would remain interested in working on the movie in the future. Phillips was to direct the film, and Hemsworth was to portray Hogan.

Hemsworth’s commitment to the character included a physical transformation to match Hogan’s physique in his prime, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.

Hulk Hogan was once scheduled to face John Cena at WrestleMania 25

Hulk Hogan’s early 2000s run in the WWE was full of dream matches. His first match back in WWE after almost a decade was against The Rock. It was one of the best matches in terms of crowd involvement. Hogan also had matches with the likes of Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar. However, one match that Hogan never had was against John Cena, who was on his way to the top when Hogan decided to hang up his boots.

However, it turns out that John Cena and Hulk Hogan were supposed to battle it out in 2009 at WrestleMania 25. This would have been a “passing the torch” moment for John Cena, who was about to become the face of the company. Unfortunately, this did not come to fruition. Instead, Cena faced Edge and Big Show in a triple-threat match. The leader of Cenation defeated the other two superstars and captured the World Heavyweight Championship.

On the other hand, Hogan had left WWE and was on an independent run for some time. He would later join TNA along with Eric Bischoff. Hogan would never have an in-ring match in WWE since the exit in 2007. Therefore, his dream match with John Cena never turned into reality.
