AEW President Tony Khan has been launching scathing attacks at rival promotion WWE over the past week. This started after the Tuesday Night War, which saw NXT easily defeat Dynamite on the head-to-head ratings. Despite losing, Khan has since resorted to taking shots against higher-ups in the Stamford-based promotion, namely Vince McMahon and Triple H. Recently, a report emerged detailing how WWE took the AEW President’s inflammatory comments.
According to Ringside News, the internal team feels that Tony Khan has declared a war between the two companies. Furthermore, many people backstage believe that the AEW President is more focused on WWE than things that concern him. Of course, this might come after the Tony Khan directly mocked John Cena and The Undertaker on his X account.
“We’ve felt Tony has been at war with WWE, instead of trying to build his own stars and his own brand, for a very long time. He’s viewed as a spoiled rich kid who just wants everyone’s attention with his temper tantrums,” the source opined. Previously, Tony Khan made serious allegations against WWE for allegedly tampering with AEW talent contracts while his mother was hospitalized.
In his tweet, Khan also claimed that it was then that the competition became personal for him. While the owner has continuously attacked the rival promotion, people in AEW believe were exasperated and believe that he should take time off from social media. Needless to say, Tony Khan’s antics have severed any sort of possible ties between WWE and AEW for the foreseeable future.
Booker T berates Tony Khan for his “childish” comments online
Tony Khan is at the center of criticism after his inflammatory comments online. Since losing the Tuesday Night War against WWE NXT, he has shown no limit towards mocking the rival promotion. Recently, Booker T expressed his opinion on the AEW President, calling him out for his “childish” behavior.
While speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, the five-time World Champion claimed that Khan’s antics are not those of a leader. “I don’t mind the boys trash talking. When the boss is doing it, doesn’t that feel a little childish to you? I’ve said that before, leadership, and Tony Khan going on social media tweeting, this is not leadership,” Booker T said.
Also, the WWE veteran opined that if Dynamite won the ratings battle, Tony Khan would be gloating about the numbers. Obviously, it looks like the relationship between WWE and AEW has worsened after the series of posts online from Khan. Moreover, the latter seemingly has no intention of putting a halt to the shots.
