The main event of Fastlane started on a high note between Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura. The latter looked adamant about exposing The Visionary’s anatomy from the get-go. Shin brought his martial arts background into play as he rattled Rollins’ hamstring with a couple of Nunchaku shots.

Seth Rollins eventually broke the trot of maneuvers against him. He delivered some gnarly Kendo Stick swings on Shinsuke Nakamura’s back, followed by a picture-perfect Frog Splash. The first referee count began when Rollins drove Nakamura’s temple into the mat, courtesy of the Curb Stomp.

The World Heavyweight Champion brought out a ladder and set it up near the announce table with Nakamura on it. However, somehow, The Artist dodged the bullet. Both men took their slugfest into the crowd. The former WWE Champion also hit a low blow on Seth Rollins, and the champ buckled down, hitting hard on his back.

After a neutral struggle between the two, The King of Strong Style drove The Visionary through a table. Just when both men climbed up the ladder, Shinsuke Nakamura blew a red mist into Rollins’ face, resulting in The Architect’s fall on the commentary table. However, a resilient Seth Rollins kept on beating the 10-count by a whisker every time.

After a pedigree and a curb stomp on a table placed near the crowd, Rollins drove Nakamura through one, courtesy of the Falcon Arrow. And the Japanese wrestler wasn’t able to answer the 10-count from the referee on this occasion. Rollins retained his World Heavyweight title in a grueling Last Man Standing match.

WWE fans have bittersweet reactions over Seth Rollins’ title retention against Shinsuke Nakamura

It’s not often that fans feel a tad disappointed with Seth Rollins emerging victorious. However, it seems to have happened this time around. Although Shinsuke Nakamura pulled out all the stops in his pursuit to capture the World Heavyweight Championship, he came up short. Moreover, the main event of Fastlane felt dragging at times to some.

In a nutshell, the majority of fans believe that it should’ve been Shinsuke Nakamura’s night. While some fans commented that Nakamura deserved better and should have won the title, others also expected a potential cash-in from Damian Priest. Fans even called it a predictable match while longing for The King of Strong Style’s victory.

The WWE Universe even questioned Shinsuke Nakamura’s booking, saying that he had been robbed. One of the fans even said that he was tired of watching Seth Rollins as the Champion. All in all, fans have been enraged over Nakamura’s constant defeats and are clamoring for him to win a title.

They believe that Fastlane should have been the right place for WWE to pull the trigger. Pretty much like their previous showdown at Payback, the rematch didn’t catch the breath of fans. However, considering Rollins’ back is in a dire state at the moment, it’s flagrant that he’s playing safe.
