Cody Rhodes disappointed after the defeat at WrestleMania 39(via-WWE)
It was tough to follow an amazing Night 1 of WrestleMania, but Night 2 had been going strong up until the main event. This year, Mania was set to be headlined with Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal title. The buildup to this match was amazing, making it the perfect match to headline the Show of Shows.
The most anticipated bout between the Tribal Chief and The American Nightmare carried so much hype going in. One of the main reasons for that being the unpredictability factor. The Tribal Chief was heading into his seventh Mania main event with a 900+ day title reign. Cody Rhodes, on the other hand, has been the most believable man to dethrone the Head of the Table.
As the stage was set for one of the biggest WrestleMania main events in recent history, fans in LA were fired up as hell. The match featured some great spots, and Solo Sikoa was getting involved as well. However, The Enforcer was barred from the ringside by the official after he was caught hitting Cody with his belt. The showdown went on, featuring some great near falls as fans were on the edge of their seats.
Later, The Usos also interfered to help their Tribal Chief. Nonetheless, the new tag-team champs, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, entered the fray to even the odds. However, even that was not enough for Cody to finish the story, as Solo cost Rhodes the match as the referee got distracted by Paul Heyman.
The crowd was heartbroken, as The American Nightmare truly suffered a nightmare at the hands of Roman Reigns. And with that, the GOD mode title reign of the Tribal Chief continues.
