Matt Cardona, better known to WWE fans as Zack Ryder, currently works in independent wrestling promotions. Also known as the King of Indies, Cardona captured the DDT Universal Championship at the Wrestle Peter Pan event of DDT Pro Wrestling in Tokyo, Japan. But a peculiar gesture by Matt was seen when he made his entrance into the matchup with his wife’s Women’s Tag Team Championship around his waist.
Matt Cardona made his way into the ring with his proclaimed Internet Championship in his hands. But what was not expected was the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship around his waist during the Wrestle Peter Pan event in Tokyo. While the end of his match with Tetsuya Endo saw him win another title and make an exit with three championships, Green’s title was in the hands of his partner, Steph De Lander.
Matt has earlier recognized himself as one half of the one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green. Making him the 25% owner of the tag team titles while Sonya Deville holds the other belt of their combined championship. Cardona’s time in the independent wrestling scene has brought him to the DDT Pro Wrestling promotion in Tokyo, Japan, and has seen his quick rise as the Universal Champion of that company.
The Thousand Dollar Broski’s time in the Stamford-based company has seen him capture both mid-card titles in his reign. His Intercontinental Championship victory came out as a huge moment for him, as he won that title at WrestleMania 32. While his RAW Tag Team Championship victory also became special when he won those titles alongside Curt Hawkins at WrestleMania 35.

Matt Cardona’s entrance at Wrestle Peter Pan 2023 was a bit of a surprise for the wrestling world. As Cardona entered his matchup against Tetsuya Endo while wearing his wife Chelsea Green‘s Women’s Tag Team Championship. The WWE Universe has shown its shocking reactions along with concerns for Green. As WWE’s title has ended up being in Tokyo, and that too in other wrestling promotions.
Making his entrance with the tag team titles around his waist, he even had his Internet Championship in one hand. While his exit saw him with three titles as he won his Universal Championship bout with Endo. Cardona has been crowned the 11th DDT Universal Champion in his first title reign in the company.
