Zelina Vega is one of the most reliable WWE superstars in the women’s division. As a result, she is well respected by her fellow co-workers and backstage officials. The 32-year-old star recently took part in two matches in one night. This past week’s episode of SmackDown was a double taping, with the upcoming edition of the show taped in advance.

According to PWInsider, Vega worked double duty on the night despite an illness. However, there is no confirmation of what the Puerto Rican wrestler was suffering from. The former Queen’s Crown winner competed in tag team action on both occasions. First, she teamed with Mia Yim in a losing effort against the returning Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane. Later, Vega participated in a four-on-four holiday-themed match against Damage CTRL.

The report further stated that the LWO member received praise for fighting through her illness and competing on the night. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that Zelina Vega’s performance and attitude have been commended. Previously, she garnered plaudits backstage for her performance during Santos Escobar‘s heel turn and attack on Rey Mysterio.

Without a doubt, the 32-year-old star has had a stellar year in WWE. Most notably, Vega got a terrific homecoming at the Backlash PLE during her match against Rhea Ripley. Moreover, she has become a viable World Champion contender on the SmackDown roster. Currently, the former Tag Team Champion is engaged in a rivalry with Damage CTRL.

What’s next for Zelina Vega amidst the LWO fallout?

The LWO crumbled after Santos Escobar turned on his mentor, Rey Mysterio. In the following weeks, Escobar laid out the likes of Carlito, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro. As a result, the faction has been seemingly written off television for the foreseeable future.

Therefore, many fans have wondered what the future holds for Zelina Vega. At the moment, the 32-year-old is focused on avenging Damage CTRL’s ambush on her. However, the former Tag Team Champion might shift her attention towards winning the upcoming Royal Rumble match and eventually capturing her first Women’s Title. 

Moreover, she can square off against the current Women’s Champion, Iyo Sky, as well. After all, Zelina Vega has established herself among the biggest names in the division. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for her on the road to WrestleMania 40.
