The annual WWE Draft for 2024 begins on April 26, 2024, on Friday Night Smackdown. The WWE always has surprises planned for the event. Whether it is surprise transfers, NXT debuts, or huge returns, the Stanford-based company always has something up its sleeve. Even if these superstars do not return to the ring, fans get to see many familiar faces make Draft announcements for the respective brands.

This year is no different, as the company plans to bring in several legends for the 2024 WWE Draft. According to PWInsider, female legends such as Torrie Wilson and Michelle McCool are expected to appear at the event. While these former Divas Champions are unlikely to be drafted by a brand, they might appear to announce the picks.

Additionally, there are ongoing discussions with other legends about making their return as well. John Bradshaw Layfield, Alundra Blayze, and former Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long are also in talks to appear tonight. JBL and Teddy Long also made appearances on last year’s edition. Thus, their participation this year is highly likely as well.

Moreover, notable Hall of Famers such as Rob Van Dam, DX (Shawn Michaels and Road Dogg), and Booker T were all present at the event. With WWE entering a new era, they are highly likely to step up their game during this time’s Draft.

WWE announces full list of rules for WWE Draft 2024

The promotion has announced a set of rules that both brands must comply with during the WWE Draft. Firstly, all champions are locked to their respective brands and cannot be drafted by the opposing brand. This rule excludes the Women’s Tag Team Champions, as they are floating champions. The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane, are eligible to be drafted. The Japanese duo will be assigned to their new brand if they lose the titles.

The next episode of Smackdown will consist of four rounds of draft picks. Each round comprises two picks. Thus, a total of 16 picks (8 for each brand) will be made on Friday. Similarly, six rounds of draft picks will be made on RAW for a total of 24 picks (12 for each brand).

Smackdown will be able to get the first pick on Friday, allowing Nick Aldis to get first hands on the top picks. Meanwhile, RAW will get the first pick in the next episode of the WWE Draft on Monday. Several NXT Superstars are also eligible for the draft. These roster changes will come into effect from the RAW after Backlash in France, that is, May 6th, 2024.
