This week’s WWE Raw in Rio Rancho kicked off with CM Punk flaunting his newly won World Heavyweight Championship. It was the first time since January 2013 that Punk had walked into the company’s flagship show as a world champion. A lot went down in that opening segment to a degree where it reportedly overran for 10 minutes.
Bryan Alvarez said during Wrestling Observer Live that the company was left scrambling with the rest of the show to make up for the time lost. However, this has been savagely debunked by someone who’s there in the Gorilla position every week. He’s none other than WWE producer Hurricane Helms.
The former WWE Hardcore Champion took to X and said, “OMG! We were soooo scrambled! It was unreal! Yelling, screaming, monkeys swinging off of chandeliers, the humanity!!!!!!!!” Hurricane’s sarcastic dig has also been backed by people in his comments, with one saying that it’s always satisfying when someone who’s ‘actually in the know’ buries an online narrative like this.

Circling back to what actually went down in Punk’s segment, he started off by soaking in all the energy from the Rio Rancho crowd. The 47-year-old then thanked AJ Lee first for standing by him through thick and thin so that they could enjoy the good times with their chests puffed out.
Next, the ‘Best in the World’ expressed gratitude to the WWE Universe, whom he referred to as the “CM Punk fans”. Last but not least, the Chicagoan showed some love to Jey Uso for offering commendable resistance during their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Punk said he’d like to continue being friends with Uso moving forward but understood if that option was out the window.
Punk said he could finally enjoy being the world champion now that a snake like Seth Rollins was no longer there to steal his moment away. ‘The Second City Saint’ warned Rollins of putting him back on the couch if the latter ever tried to get in his way again.
After mentioning that there were a number of viable men back in the locker room who could take the title away from him if he became complacent, Punk got interrupted by Logan Paul. ‘The Maverick’ cited reasons as to why he deserved a crack at the World Heavyweight title. They were cut off by Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and their mouthpiece, Paul Heyman.
Paul tried getting out of their way but got shoved down by Breakker. The Vision then proceeded to attack Punk and wielded their 2-on-1 advantage until Paul went after them in a surprising move. However, Breakker and Reed soon nullified the YouTuber before Punk brought the equalizer in the form of a steel chair. It made the Vision retreat to end the segment.
Logan Paul betrayed CM Punk to join The Vision on WWE Raw
After what transpired in the opening segment, CM Punk was booked in a tag team match against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in the main event of Raw. ‘The Straight Edge Superstar’ had to find a partner before the end of the night. He bumped into Jey Uso backstage, who agreed to have Punk’s back against the Brons. The match ultimately ended in a double countout with chaos all around.

After the Brons left Uso impotent, only Punk was left to deal with them. But little did he know that Logan Paul would arrive to back him up. ‘The Maverick’ stood beside the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ with Breakker and Reed to work on. Paul put on his brass knuckles and cued Punk to unleash on The Vision.
But just then, the IMPAULSIVE host decked Punk instead. It was a ruse. The PRIME co-owner later handed those brass knucks to Heyman in a move that seemingly confirmed he was with his boys. It’s starting to look like WarGames is around the corner with Vision now beefed up with Paul’s services.

Punk and Uso are expected to receive a major shot in the arm when Roman Reigns gets back in the mix. Other rumored names include Brock Lesnar and Austin Theory. More members will be added to both teams in the upcoming weeks, leading to a WarGames match at Survivor Series on November 29.
