This week’s WWE Raw bore witness to the second round of Roman Reigns going toe-to-toe with CM Punk on the mic. After interrupting Reigns, Punk hoped that the ‘Tribal Chief’ was there for more than just having himself acknowledged by the ‘Second City Saint’.
“Because, brother, that could’ve been a tweet,” quipped Punk. It rang a bell with Reigns that his tweet about the ‘Best in the World’ being tired after the Elimination Chamber really seemed to have hurt his feelings.
‘The Cookie Master’ dismissed that claim from Reigns by saying he didn’t care about his tweet, and neither does he take offense to what other people say about him on different podcasts for that matter. Punk then proceeded to show his eye bags, which he’ll use to carry Reigns’ absurdity until WrestleMania.
‘The Second City Saint’ brought up that he and Reigns shared some history with where they were in for Raw—Indianapolis. Punk said that’s where The Shield debuted in 2012, and he brought them to the dance.
Roman Reigns immediately corrected Punk by saying that he brought the other two and not ‘The OTC’. Punk said maybe that’s because Reigns wasn’t his pick to be in the trio but affirmed that Reigns certainly picked him a few weeks ago for WrestleMania.
The former Bloodline leader clarified that he chose Punk just because of the world title resting on his shoulders. And without it, Reigns said he’d be indifferent to Punk, and he wouldn’t even be on his radar. ‘The Head of the Table’ reminded the 47-year-old on behalf of WWE that they brought him back to entertain a certain demo, sell a few t-shirts here and there, and maybe draw a house in Chicago only.
The Anoa’i family wrestler also explained why Punk isn’t the right fit to be a champion in WWE. Reigns told Punk that he could pretend to be having the time of his life right now, but he couldn’t be trusted with having to carry the gigantic responsibility of being a world champion.
‘The Big Dog’ called the former AEW star a liar and feared it wouldn’t take long for Punk to resort to the problematic backstage figure he’s been notorious for in the past.
Reigns tried walking past Punk after getting all that off his chest, but the champ held him back with authority. ‘The Voice of the Voiceless’ reminded ‘The Tribal Chief’ was alone with neither his cousin nor his wiseman by his side because he took Paul Heyman away from him.
A riled-up CM Punk broke it to Roman Reigns that he was main-eventing WrestleMania not just because he won the Royal Rumble but also due to the fact that the ‘Best in the World’ was the main event and Reigns was on his show. Punk added that he didn’t care if Reigns hated or even loved him, but he wouldn’t let the record-setting Undisputed WWE Champion disrespect him.
‘The Red-Headed Stepchild’ fired back at what Reigns had said about retiring him and making him emulate the John Cena retirement tour to milk every iota of profit off of him before sending him down to NXT for honing the next generation of stars. Punk said he’s now going to bury Reigns next to his father. That line was the mic drop, and it visibly ruffled Reigns.
Dominik Mysterio loses his IC title to Penta after Danhausen curse on WWE Raw
Right before CM Punk and Roman Reigns had their segment, a massive title change happened on Raw. Penta defeated Dominik Mysterio to become the brand-new Intercontinental Champion. The man who has Cero Miedo had lost six IC title matches prior to this, but the seventh time’s the charm.
There were some shenanigans at ringside, where Mysterio’s Judgment Day buddies JD McDonagh and Finn Balor were sitting.

‘Dirty Dom’ asked for the bell hammer in the closing moments. McDonagh proceeded on to getting it from the timekeeper’s area and was about to hand it over to Dom but couldn’t, as Balor stopped ‘The Irish Ace’ from doing so. ‘The Prince’ asked JD to let ‘Dom’ handle Penta on his own, as that’s what he said he was going to do.
That distraction ultimately resulted in Penta hitting the Mexican Destroyer on Rey Mysterio‘s son and taking the IC title off him. It’s worth noting that WWE’s newest signee, Danhausen, interacted with the Judgment Day backstage, and he cursed Mysterio that something bad will happen to him.
Moments later, the ‘King of the Luchadores’ lost the championship gold that he won by defeating John Cena at Survivor Series last November.
