Rhea Ripley had pinned Liv Morgan during their mixed tag team match at Bash in Berlin. Pinning the champion ensured that the Australian got another shot at the Women’s World Championship at Bad Blood. The match stipulation stated that Dominik Mysterio would be locked in a shark cage suspended above the ring throughout the duration of the match.
During the match, Mysterio somehow managed to unlock the doors of his cage, which was hanging upside down by a chain around his foot. Around this time, Ripley had Liv Morgan knocked out in the center of the ring. Rather than going for the pinfall, she went up to the referee and made a special request.
Rhea Ripley told the referee that she had unfinished business with Mysterio. She was going to go outside the ring, deal with him, and come back later to finish the match. The match official did not have any objection and even told The Eradicator that she deserved it. This entire incident was caught in a camera attached to the referee’s earpiece.
Ripley exited the ring, went towards Mysterio, and repeatedly hit him with a kendo stick. Throughout the entire time, the referee did not count out the 27-year-old for being outside the ring. Mysterio, still hanging from the cage, could do nothing to protect himself from this onslaught. Thankfully for the Latino superstar, Raquel Rodriguez made her return to WWE to stop the Eradicator and cost her the title shot.
Raquel Rodriguez seemingly makes a huge blunder during the match between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan for the Women’s World Championship
Raquel Rodriguez was last seen on WWE TV in February earlier this year. She revealed that she had competed at Elimination Chamber while battling a serious skin disease. She went on to take a break from the promotion after having a match two days later on Raw. Perhaps this long break resulted in the Latina superstar being out of practice, as she botched a major spot at Bad Blood.
During the match, Raquel Rodriguez came out to attack the former Women’s World Champion. However, she seemingly made her entrance way too early while being in the referee’s view. Although the match official tried to turn away, the interference was too obvious. Thus, the challenger had to be declared the winner via disqualification.
After beating Ripley up, Rodriguez was likely supposed to put Liv Morgan on top of the Australian and hide, letting the champion get the pinfall. Although the 3-time WWE champion followed the plan, the match had already been called off, and no pinfall was supposed to take place. Corey Graves, on commentary, did his best to justify the situation. While he acknowledged that the match was over, he said that this gesture was simply about sending a message.
