WWE has been incorporating significant changes into its roster in recent times. It includes the superstars’ characters and gimmicks as well. The WWE Draft ushered in a fresh beginning on Raw and SmackDown. As a result, the company has major plans for the superstars in both rosters. Recent reports reveal that WWE is planning a major heel turn for Hall of Famer Edge on SmackDown.
The Rated R superstar wrestled in a championship tournament last week on SmackDown. Despite giving everything he had, Edge ended up losing the match. He failed to cash in on the opportunity to win the brand new World Heavyweight Championship. Besides, it’s a title that Edge has a long history with. Following his defeat, the fans are curious to know what lies ahead for the WWE Hall of Famer.
According to The Wrestling Blog, WWE is considering a heel turn for Edge following his defeat against Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles at SmackDown. The Rated R superstar has achieved much success in the company with his heel persona. Moreover, it’s something that the WWE Universe has always loved to see. With Edge not having much fuel left in his tank, it could be his last run in his evil persona.
The reports stated that there has been discussion about a “possible heel turn.” However, nothing is confirmed as of yet. If it happens, it will revamp Edge’s character on the main roster. The last time Edge was in his heel persona, fans saw the formation of one of the greatest factions The Judgment Day.
WWE drafted Edge to SmackDown during this year’s WWE Draft. With him turning heel, it will give rise to endless possibilities on the Blue Brand. Thus, fans have been waiting to see the Rated R superstar in some incredible feuds and storylines. It will be interesting to see when WWE pulls the trigger on him.
Edge speaks about his retirement plans in WWE
There are many superstars on the roster who are in the final stages of their careers. One such superstar is WWE Hall of Famer Edge. The Rated R superstar has been actively performing in WWE since returning in 2020. However, it appears that he does not have much fuel left in his tank.
Ahead of SmackDown last week, Edge posted a video on Twitter and spoke about his retirement plans. He said that he would love to end his career after winning the brand new World Heavyweight Championship. Edge stated that it’s a title that he never lost in the first place while having to relinquish it.
Evidently, he failed to win the triple-threat qualifying match at SmackDown. With Edge on the Blue Brand, he won’t get another opportunity for the title. However, it looks like Edge will definitely cross paths with the World Heavyweight Championship before bidding adieu to his illustrious career.
