Samoa Joe sustains injury and relinquishes his NXT Championship
WWE recently took to social media to announce that NXT Champion Samoa Joe has sustained an injury and his relinquished his title following that. After winning the title at NXT TakeOver 36 Joe didn’t get a chance to even defend his title once before he was forced to relinquish it.
Samoa Joe also took to social media and said that he was informed by the medical team regarding the injury following which, he was force to relinquish the championship. After sustaining injuries multiple times in his career, Joe hasn’t been a part of WWE as an in-ring competitor very much. Here’s what he said on social media:
“Hello, I’m NXT champion Samoa Joe. Apart from my recent return, my goals were very simple. I sought to ensure the respect and integrity due to both NXT and its championship. I sought to ensure that everybody understood that the needs of one individual will never outstrip the sum of the brand. Today, I find myself having to stand on those principles.”
“Recently, WWE medicals informed me that due to certain injuries, they would like to have me step away from the ring for a brief, yet still indeterminate amount of time. I realize that this week, we are on the cusp of a new NXT. We are on the brink of a new era in our history, and I realize that era deserves a fighting champion. And that’s why it makes this very difficult decision, very easy to make. Effective immediately, I relinquish the NXT Championship. Best of luck to those who will vie for it. My sincerest condolences to whoever wins because I will be along shortly to recollect what’s mine”
Samoa Joe has sustained a lot of injuries previously
Before this, Joe has sustained a lot of injuries and has taken a break from WWE due to that. Not only that but he was also not medically cleared to compete in the ring for some part of his career which led to him becoming a commentator for a short period of time.
Joe is expected to recover from this injury in the next few months which would lead to him returning either to NXT or to the main roster and once again make an impact on the roster.
