Sasha Banks’ medical update

Sasha Banks’ medical update

Banks

Sasha Banks ran hot and cold throughout 2021. While she was the Smackdown Women’s Champion at the beginning of the year, but had been on and off television throughout the year. For “The Boss” the highlight of 2021 was Wrestlemania 37 Night One – where she made history along with Bianca Belair by marking the first-time ever when the event was headlined by two Black Women.

While the night would’ve been sweeter had Banks walked out as the Champion, but the EST of WWE managed to dethrone her to become the Smackdown Women’s Champion. Post this, it was the first time she went on a break. Banks earned her rematch for the title at Summerslam – but once again she wasn’t cleared medically to compete and was replaced by Becky Lynch.

Recently, she was gearing up to go after the Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and they were consistently battling against one another at the live events. At a recent live event at Fayetteville, things went wrong with Banks and the “X” sign was thrown for Banks. She was soon carried out by the personnel – and fans were worried for her.

Sasha Banks had later clarified that she was doing good. But WWE has officially provided a medical update on the Boss and it might dishearten her fans. The update mentioned that Banks had undergone an MRI and with a bruised calcaneus bone, she will be out of action for 6-8 weeks. This eliminates the possibility of Banks being a part of the Royal Rumble match.

“Sasha Banks suffered a foot injury Sunday evening at a WWE Live! event in Fayetteville, NC. After seeking emergency medical attention, it was determined nothing was broken. Sasha underwent an MRI and it was discovered she has a bruised calcaneus bone. She is at home recovering and undergoing physical therapy. She is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks” – mentioned the WWE statement.

The Boss is considered to be the “Four Horsewomen” of WWE. But her record in Royal Rumble hasn’t been quite impressive. In 2018, she had entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match as the No.1 entrant. She eliminated 3 Superstars and lasted for 55 minutes but failed to win the match – which was eventually won by Asuka.

This was Banks’ only performance in the 30-Women Royal Rumble match. But she did perform on the PPV, but those were in singles matches. In 2019, she was defeated by Ronda Rousey in the Raw Women’s Championship match but did manage to pin Carmella for the Smackdown Women’s Championship in 2021.
