WWE will make its impending return to NBC for a primetime special tomorrow night for the first time since 2008. Emanating from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum nestled in Long Island, everyone’s Saturday night obsession is back. That said, the company is boasting of a stacked five-match card, with both the men’s world titles also up for grabs. However, a grudge affair had to end up on the chopping board.

As per PWInsider, Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed part 3 was originally scheduled for the NBC special. That’d closed out their trilogy. Reed and Rollins were one win apiece. However, the plans for a third match were dropped after The Auszilla broke his foot during the Men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series. Those circumstances called for Drew McIntyre’s WWE return earlier than expected.

And now, he’s set to take on Sami Zayn at Saturday Night’s Main Event. McIntyre’s absolutely furious at the fact that The Usos and Sami put their tails between their legs and teamed up with Roman Reigns as if he was clean all the way along. The Scot accused his arch-nemesis CM Punk of taking a bribe from Paul Heyman that’d suffice his favor.

But as mentioned, Usos and Zayn had no business reverting back to The OTC. In McIntyre’s words, they sold out for nothing. Speaking of Reigns, he was previously advertised for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

It was only earlier this week when WWE delisted him, as are the cases of Seth Rollins and Bianca Belair. The latter’s situation is a whole different ballgame. Her partner, Jade Cargill, was mysteriously attacked on SmackDown a few weeks ago. And despite conflicting reports, she’s out legitimately.

Is the Winged Eagle title primed for a return at Saturday Night’s Main Event?

WWE is going all hands on deck for making Saturday Night’s Main Event look like an ode to the good ‘ol days. The show will have a retro feel, backed with watered-down production. Legendary color commentator Jesse Ventura will also be there at the broadcast table alongside Michael Cole.

However, what has really kept the fans going is Triple H‘s special gift for Cody Rhodes. During a recent teaser video on X, The Game presented Rhodes with a coffer and said that it’ll only be a one-time proposition. As soon as Cody opened it, his face lit up with a gleam of gold.

Even though it was never mentioned explicitly, the WWE Universe is convinced that Hunter just gave Cody the keys to the iconic Winged Eagle WWE Championship. The former AEW EVP had long advocated to bring it back. Even though it might be a one-off deal, seeing that belt on WWE TV in 2024 is going to hit on all levels.
