WWE Summerslam 2021 will be main-evented by two of the biggest Superstars of the company – John Cena and Roman Reigns. The biggest babyface of the company, Cena, will be clashing against the biggest villain on the current roster, Reigns.
WWE President and Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan recently spoke to Variety, where he discussed the importance of bringing back a massive Face to challenge one of their biggest Heels. “As you know, your villain is only as good as your hero, and your hero is only as good as your villain. So with Roman being on such a tear and being such a monster heel, it only made sense for one of our greatest faces of all time to come back.”
16-time WWE World Champion John Cena made his much-awaited return to WWE at Money in the Bank, to challenge the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He is after his record-breaking 17th WWE World title, and is pretty confident of pinning Reigns.
But on the latest episode of WWE Smackdown, a new stipulation was added to the WWE Summerslam 2021 main-event. This swerve suggests that the Head of the Table is himself confident of pinning Cena to retain.
Roman Reigns raised the stake for the Universal Championship match at WWE Summerslam 2021
Universal Champion Roman Reigns, in the main event of the go-home episode of Smackdown, added a surprising stipulation to the match. Annoyed by Cena’s confidence of pinning him, Reigns announced that if he fails to retain the Universal title, he will leave WWE!
This year the PPV is well on course to become the biggest event of the year and massive Superstars are scheduled to appear at the event. The buildup itself has been nothing short of blockbuster and included some of the best promos from John Cena, Roman Reigns and Edge. WWE Summerslam 2021 will feature 10 matches, 7 of these are going to have Championships on the line.
