A favor that CM Punk was owed from Paul Heyman since Survivor Series last year is finally revealed. This week on SmackDown, the Chi-town local was confronted by his former manager during the opening segment. Heyman pleaded with Punk to spit out the favor already, but he didn’t. Instead, the former AEW star waited till the main event.

When Roman Reigns took center stage on the show with Seth Rollins also in the ring, The Best in the World delivered on his promise. He got into Reigns’ face and recalled a 2013 promo from WWE Raw where Heyman prophesized that he’ll accompany Punk in the main event of WrestleMania. The Second City Saint told The OTC he’ll force him out of his comfort zone.

Punk affirmed that Roman would have to deal with him and Heyman, and the latter by that moment was holding on for dear life. The Best in the World announced that Paul, Reigns’ Wiseman, would be in his corner at WrestleMania 41. Hearing that, Roman guffawed in disbelief. He resorted to Punk, saying that even if he’d permit Heyman to do so, the latter would deny it.

However, despite Roman asking his Special Counsel to shut Punk down, the former WCW executive didn’t adhere to his client’s marching orders. Paul was in such a dilemma that he started crying, and having seen enough of it, Reigns pressed on the 59-year-old. Before the former Shield member could damage his best friend any further, Punk stabbed The OTC in the back and delivered a GTS to him.

Fans disappointed with CM Punk asking Paul Heyman’s backing as his favor

As just mentioned, the segment ended with Roman Reigns being put to sleep by an enraged CM Punk. After it went down, Seth Rollins was ready to take his shot but wisely backtracked. For the most part, he was a non-factor. The WWE Universe seems puzzled and rather underwhelmed with the highly anticipated reveal of Punk’s favor. A user wrote that he thought the triple threat feat.

Reigns, Rollins, and Punk would turn into a number one contenders match. The winner could’ve been added to the Undisputed WWE title match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes on WrestleMania Sunday. Another fan opined that if this was really it, WWE should’ve kept the favor under wraps until the match itself.

Paul Heyman refusing to help his Tribal Chief in the match might’ve been a more sensible way to go. As evident by the majority of the reactions, the netizens were expecting something more significant from the reveal.

One even quipped, What difference will it make to have Paul walk Punk out at The Grandest Stage of Them All? Some believe that it’d rupture Reigns to the core if Punk wooed Heyman away from The OTC permanently. Which is why people in the comments also wrote that Punk vs. Reigns without Seth could’ve meant more.

What’s Seth Rollins’ issue with Roman Reigns and CM Punk?

After SmackDown, it’d seem as if Seth Rollins is an afterthought in the triple-threat match. However, he does have a career-long rival in Roman Reigns to deal with. The Visionary is pissed at his former Shield brother for not letting him finish CM Punk when he had The Second City Saint inside a steel cage at Madison Square Garden.

It was the edition of Raw where The Head of the Table made his return after being off since the Royal Rumble. At the PLE, it was Punk who dumped both the erstwhile Shield brothers to the floor. That’s what triggered the now-official WrestleMania match involving these men.

The Voice of the Voiceless has taken credit for introducing Reigns and Rollins into this business, and he’s hellbent on running them out too. However, it’d be interesting to see if Punk has bigger things in mind apart from getting Paul Heyman back by his side.
