Former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide revealed on The Ringer Wrestling Show‘s post-PLE podcast that “Lashley is shoot hurt and has been hurt since the Rumble match,” where he won the championship from Brock.  Following the win at Rumble three weeks ago, Famuyide remarked that the now-former WWE Champion hasn’t competed on TV or at live events.

Lashley is expected to have a shoulder operation and might be out for up to four months, according to Famuyide, putting him out well past WrestleMania 38. A six-week turnaround appears near-impossible, even with the All Mighty’s remarkable recuperation talents. If that’s the case, it’s a huge setback for a wrestler who has made a name for himself in the tough times of the pandemic. The injury also leaves all of us wondering what Lashley’s planned objectives for the WWE Championship were if he hadn’t been injured. However, as of now, Brock will face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a title vs title match at the show of shows.

In case you’re unaware, Seth Rollins buckle-bombed Austin Theory into – and through – Bobby Lashley’s pod just seconds into the men’s chamber match, smashing the glass barrier and Theory down on the champion. Lashley was subsequently hauled out of the contest after being removed from his pod. The announcers said that he had entered concussion treatment and would not return to the match, ensuring that a new champion would be crowned. Brock would then enter the contest and quickly crush all four other superstars, reclaiming the title he had lost last month, owing to the interference from Roman Reigns.
