“Is anything wrong?”: Vince McMahon’s opinion on current WWE shows
McMahon
Vince McMahon is the biggest name in the professional wrestling industry. He is, inarguably, the most popular wrestling promoter in the world. He came into the business, way back in the 1970s as a commentator for his father’s wrestling promotion, WWWF. This was during the time where there were innumerable small promotions present across the United States.
Vince bought the company from his father in 1982 and completely monopolized the industry. WWE, known as WWF back then, became consistently growing brand. It was only a matter of time for the name to reach global popularity. Today WWE shows are available in over 900 million homes, with McMahon serving as the CEO and Chairman of the company.
Since over the last four decades, several competitors had emerged in the form of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). They did give some stiff competition, but in the end WWE emerged victorious. Since the last couple of years, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has appeared like a real threat to the company.
It isn’t an easy task to deliver a high quality product for such longer periods of time. In fact, WWE tries to do so every single week with Raw and Smackdown – the longest running weekly shows. Often fans have been complaining that the quality of the product has significantly dropped, but backstage note reveals that Vince McMahon doesn’t feel so!
In a recent Q&A session with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, it was revealed that the WWE CEO and Chairman has “a billion reasons” to believe that all is well with the product. “The company made a billion dollars last year, so there’s a billion reasons for him to shrug off any criticisms. We are told he pushes and presents what he likes and wants and nothing else makes a dent in that vision. That’s why the shows are presented the way they are,” mentioned Johnson.
Vince McMahon is still as athletic as he used to be years ago
The WWE CEO and Chairman still sweats it out in the gym like he used to years ago. His photos and videos from the gym are often going viral – with the viewers shocked to see the fitness and physique of the 76-years old promoter. In fact, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch recently revealed in an interview with TV Insider that Vince McMahon had jumped off a tower!
“I watched him the other day demonstrate falling off a tower at 74 years old without a bother, brushing his shoulders off and standing up again,” mentioned Lynch. His recent antics suggest that Vince is nowhere close to stopping and has years of daredevilry left in him!
