WATCH: When “Stone Cold” Steve Austin melted John Cena’s heart
Cena and Stone Cold
John Cena is one of the best professional wrestlers of all time. He has been with the company for nearly two decades now. While he has started focussing on his career in Hollywood, Cena continues to make sporadic appearances for the company. His projects in 2021 are testament that he has been excelling in both his careers.
In 2021, the Leader of Cenation returned to WWE as well. This time it wasn’t just a one-off appearance, but he feuded for the Universal Championship with Roman Reigns for an entire month. He had returned at Money in the Bank and feuded till Summerslam 2021. But he ended up on the losing side but promised his fans to be back soon.
His month-long performance in the company showed that John Cena still has the potential to perform in the ring. He could well go on to win his 17th World Championship. There is no doubt that Cena is one of the best in this business, and WWE recently released a video we showed another legend appreciating the 16-time Champion.
The video is from the RAW Reunion episode which had aired back in July 2019. Superstars like Cena, Rikishi and Stone Cold Steve Austin had returned for the episode. In the video, the Texas Rattlesnake can be seen telling Cena that he was proud of him.
“So I’m very glad you got that on camera because, like, that just melted my heart. Steve Austin saying ‘I’m proud of you’ is really cool,” told John Cena to the camera. It would definitely mean a lot when a legend of the industry goes on to compliment you!
John Cena compared working on Peacemaker to WWE
In 2021, John Cena got the opportunity to don a Superhero costume as he was signed on to play the role of Peacemaker on The Suicide Squad. The fans loved the role so much that the studio greenlit a series on his character – which aired in 2022. But things dint just end here. The first season was so well received that the second season was ordered immediately.
While Cena had expected his Superhero outing to be a one-off thing, it wasn’t the case. While appearing on an exclusive panel for TCA 20Q21, Megan O’Keefe revealed that Cena had mentioned that it felt like he was working in WWE again. “John Cena says that Peacemaker mirrors his experience in the WWE, believing he’s the good guy but being greeted with jeers of “Cena sucks!” – mentioned the tweet.
