The Royal Rumble go-home episode of SmackDown saw a couple of debuts on the show. One of them was NXT’s Elektra Lopez, making her first appearance on the main roster. This occurred during Santos Escobar‘s bout against Carlito. The 31-year-old helped the former emerge victorious after a sneak attack on Zelina Vega at ringside.

During the latter stages of the match, a brawl broke out between LWO and Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo. Later, Elektra Lopez showed up to even the odds by taking out Vega. Fans who follow NXT would be aware of La Madrina, who’s been a prominent feature on the Gold brand for the past couple of years.

Lopez debuted on NXT in June 2021. A few months later, she joined Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro and became a member of the Legado Del Fantasma faction. The stable would remain a dominant presence for a year before their main roster callup. However, Elektra was not part of the group as she remained on NXT while Zelina Vega replaced her as the manager.

Afterwards, she formed a brief alliance with Lola Vice before feuding with her. Meanwhile, Legado Del Fantasma joined forces with Rey Mysterio, who revived the Latino World Order (LWO). After months of tension, Escobar turned on his mentor and later recruited Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo to reform the faction. Elektra Lopez has reunited with her former teammate and will likely be a regular feature on the main roster.

Did Elektra Lopez plant the seeds for a rivalry with Zelina Vega?

The Royal Rumble is not only a match that determines the main event of WrestleMania, but it also builds several other rivalries as well. As such, Elektra Lopez’s surprise debut on SmackDown might point to her entering the women’s bout. In addition to that, she will probably come face-to-face with Zelina Vega in the match.

With that, a faction rivalry between LWO and Legado Del Fantasma may lead to one of the marquee matches at WrestleMania. Rey Mysterio is expected to make his return during the event, and this will add to the feud. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Lopez’s debut impacts the Road to the Showcase of Immortals.
