We are going to see Who has Stolen the golden egg in WWE?
At the time of WWF, wrestlers focused more on fights than scripted acting. But after the renaming of WWF to WWE, they started focusing on entertainment. WWE started adding more backstage segments and PG-era stuff to entertain their new-generation audiences. One such absurd storyline was that of “Cleopatra’s Golden Egg,” brought by the owner Vince McMahon. According to an industry writer, the initial concept for this part was much worse than the final product.
Prior to Royal Rumble 2021, Vince McMahon debuted the $100 million golden egg. For the sake of promoting The Rock’s most recent movie, Red Notice, McMahon displayed the egg in his office. The Golden Egg was a gift from Dwayne Johnson and Vince was furious when it got stolen. So he ordered every superstar to appear on next Monday night’s Raw and SmackDown so that the thief could get caught. The next day he made an announcement: Whoever finds the thief would get rewarded with a WWE Championship shot.
Later, Austin Theory took the golden egg, and Sami told Vince about it when he found out. Then Vince called Theory to the office, and the 25-year-old confessed that he had only done that for the sake of a selfie. Vince rewarded Theory with a shot at the world title because his honesty impressed him. The supervisor then instructed Zayn to stop talking before warning Zayn that no one loves a snitch. Unfortunately, Theory lost that night’s match against Big E, the former WWE Champion.
The audience didn’t value this segment much as everything seemed pre-planned. The main motive of this segment was to give some push to Austin Theory so that his character gets some fame in front of the fans. Vince booked Theory against some good athletes like Seth Rollins and others after this segment.

Initial plan for the golden egg segment was “way worse,” according to an ex-WWE writer
Brian Gewirtz broke the news on The Bill Simmons Podcast that a much inferior plot was used to replace the golden egg part. Gewirtz, an associate of The Rock, recalled him as he ran that segment and realized that changes were needed there. He said, “I won’t get into the initial creative for that, but trust me when I say that it was far worse. After discussing with Rock I said, “Yeah, that’s gotta change,” And then I believe Vince and the guys came up with this egg thing.”
Vince McMahon made the decision to support Theory’s future career as a result of the segment. The rising talent won Vince’s heart with his performance. Sami’s performance there served as a turning point in his career since it changed Vince’s perception of him. After that, Vince decided to book Sami for big storylines and give him the push he deserved.
