After 99 days out of action, the New York Yankees will have their No.99 back on the team. On Monday, the American League East side activated their captain, Aaron Judge, from the 60-day injured list. Fans on social media were left excited by this development.

The 3-time MLB MVP had been dealing with a right rib stress fracture. He initially got injured in April after diving to make a catch in the outfield against the Houston Astros.

However, he played through the pain barrier in May. It was near the end of this month that the injury flared up, leading to him undergoing an MRI scan. The results showed that he had fractured his rib and would be out for a while.

There had also been some reports claiming that he was done for the season. However, the Yankees star kept denying those reports and expressed confidence in returning to the team later in the campaign.

Last week, Yankees manager Aaron Boone admitted it was possible he could return to the team during the homestand against the Colorado Rockies. This past Friday, he stepped up into the batter’s box at Petco Park for a practice session.

On Monday, a few hours after taking a live batting practice at Yankee Stadium, the team reactivated him from the injured list.

To say the Yankees have struggled in his absence would be an understatement. The New York-based side was 36-23 for the season when he got injured.

In his absence, the team went 45-39. Since June 1, the Yankees are ranked 26th in the league in runs scored. According to ESPN insights, their .227 batting average is the second-lowest in the league.

Before the injury, Judge was hitting .248 for the season with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs in 59 games.
