On Wednesday, Aaron Judge was once again out of action and was forced to watch the game from the sidelines due to an injury. Manager Aaron Boone later gave a grim update and said the team was seeking more clarity regarding him before taking action.

Judge was diagnosed with a bone bruise near his right rib cage by the team’s medical staff. A specialist in New York confirmed the club’s initial diagnosis and ordered further testing of the Yankees captain.

As per reports from MLB.com, the reigning American League MVP has been dealing with discomfort in his right shoulder in the last couple of weeks. However, this was only while he was swinging the bat.

In May, the effects of this were seen in his play. He went on a 0-for-15 slump before hitting a home run against the Tampa Bay Rays. This snapped an 11-game home run drought for him. Eventually, he ended the month going 14-for-68 with 1 home run, 8 RBIs, and 19 strikeouts.

Initially, it was expected that Judge’s case would be a day-to-day situation. However, he has now been suggested to undergo more testing.

We just want clarity on what we’re exactly dealing with. Then we can set the course of action and kind of have an idea what the timeline is going to be.

These words from Boone had raised concerns among the Yankees fans. Further testing suggests that the issue could be more serious than initially anticipated.

This development also comes at a time when the Yankees are in another division title battle. On Wednesday, the team lost 5-4 against the Cleveland Guardians and suffered consecutive defeats. This left them with a 36-25 record.

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays got swept by the struggling Detroit Tigers. As a result of this, they remain 1 game behind the Rays in the race for the top spot in the AL East division. It will be a big blow for the Yankees if they lose Judge for a significant time.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. claims other Yankees star have to come together following Aaron Judge’s injury

Aaron Judge‘s injury has dampened the mood in the New York Yankees clubhouse. While commenting on his absence, Jazz Chisholm Jr. claimed that it “sucks” to not have him on the team. However, the infielder also mentioned that the other stars have to come together.

Judge has been the talisman of the team. In the past few years, he has led the team in almost every offensive category and carried it on his shoulders. When he struggles at the plate, the team’s offense also goes down.

With him now staring a stint on the injured list, the Yankees will need their other stars to step up. On Wednesday, Chisholm Jr. smashed his 7th home run of the year and tied the game at 1-1. Jose Caballero also went yard while Cody Bellinger drove in 2 runs through 2 sacrifice flies.

While the Yankees did end up losing 5-4, they still managed to score some runs without Judge. In an interview after the game, Chisholm Jr. expressed confidence in his team and claimed that they have several good players who can fill the void in Judge’s absence.

It sucks not to have him here, but at the same time, we’re still a team. I feel like we have a lot of great players on this team. Judge is great and everything, but he couldn’t do it by himself. You always want your guys to be happy, but we’ve still got to come together.

3 years ago, in June 2023, Judge suffered a significant toe injury after running into a wall while taking a catch. This ruled him out for several weeks, which led to the Yankees suffering a huge collapse.

In September 2019, Judge had suffered some issues with his right rib cage after attempting to catch a ball. Had the 2020 season started on time, he would have been on the injured list until June.

For now, only time will tell what happens next. The Yankees will be hoping to avoid getting swept by the Guardians on Thursday.
