Ng Ka Long Angus

Viktor Axelsen is playing his first tournament after the outbreak of the pandemic, which is a long time. He missed the Denmark open due to an injury. Axelsen has had a good run in Bangkok. Apart from beating Ginting in a three-setter, he has not dropped a game in the earlier rounds. He thumped the fifth seed, Jonatan Christie, 21-14, 21-5. Prior to th pandemic outbreak, Axelsen even won the All England Championship.

Ng Ka has fought his way through to reach the finals, with all matches being not less than 40 minutes. He’s had a gruelling, tiresome run. He had not participated in Denmark Open 2020 in Oncober. Long lost to an unseeded Kenta Nishimoto at the All England 2020 in the first round despite being the eighth seed.

Viktor Axelsen vs Ng Ka Long Angus: Head-to-Head

Viktor Axelsen

Viktor Axelsen has an absolute advantage over the Hong Kong shuttler. The Dane leads the Head to head 8-0. The last meeting was in Malaysia Master 2020 21-14 and 21-18. Another interesting thing to note is all the eight victories have been in straight sets with none going to deuce. Viktor has a clear advantage here.

Viktor Axelsen vs Ng Ka Long Angus: Match Prediction

Ng Ka Long is brimming with confidence from his performance at the Impact Arena, Bangkok. Axelsen too is coming as a confident player with a stellar performance here, the All England title last year and the hunger to win after recovering from injuries. Viktor Axelsen would be a more likely winner in the finals. It may not be an easy win for Viktor, given the form his opponent is. Axelsen has a great advantage in the head-to-head aspect and would make full use of that psychologically. It may be difficult for Ng Ka Long to win, but the way he has been playing, he could be well beyond that mentality and focus on that one final and winning the match.

Prediction: Viktor Axelsen is likely to win. If Angus can put up with the pressure mentally and physically, it may go to a decider game.
