With Khabib Nurmagomedov leaving the UFC Lightweight division and championship belt behind him, the MMA enthusiasts are making assumptions about the future champion. It is believed that the former champion Conor McGregor is the strongest contender for this belt, as compared to others.

But as far it is concerned about the former Lightweight interim champion Tony Ferguson, he believes that Conor McGregor doesn’t even belong to be in the Lightweight division’s top fighters. Ferguson and McGregor are most probably the biggest names in the division and with Khabib not being here both of them want the championship.

The ‘El Cucuy’ says, “Conor McGregor just deserves a chance to fight. F**k him fighting for the UFC Lightweight title. He needs to fight. He needs to fight somebody like, I don’t know, top 15”. He also added, “Get his a** back on there, man. You don’t belong in the top 5! Get the f*** out of here. F*** you, pay me dude. Nothing personal, but you are still a bi**h”.

McGregor vs Poirier can happen in Lightweight

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier

Earlier, Dana White said that even if Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will fight at Lightweight there is no chance they will be getting a title shot. But now with Khabib leaving the Octagon, this is going to be the biggest fight in upcoming days for this division.

This could create a problem for Ferguson and the other contenders, as Poirier is ranked number 2 in lightweight and Conor at number 5. Whoever wins this fight will get a chance to enter the frame for the championship.

Conor entered the Octagon last in January against Donald Cerrone in which he scored a 40 sec TKO victory while on the other hand, Ferguson lost his interim championship against Justin Gaethje. Ferguson now has to work his way out to reach the championship but Conor can be one of the biggest obstacles in his way.
