“You gotta learn to throw it”- when Jorge Masvidal flexed on his sucker punches thrown for a street fight
Jorge Masvidal
UFC megastar Jorge Masvidal might’ve attacked Colby Covington from his back that caused all the trouble. However, Masvidal is known for settling street business from the opponent’s back when it’s down to scrap. Masvidal was recently arrested after causing havoc in front of Papi Steak Restaurant in Miami earlier this week when Masvidal possibly fractured his bitter rival and former teammate, Colby Covington’s tooth.
Masvidal is known for his experience in the fight game which sums up to 20 long years. Masvidal has fought the who’s who of the MMA world throughout his career which majorly happened in the lightweight division and recently took a turn to welterweight. However, Masvidal’s beginning into the world of fighting began from him being a street fighter back when he was as young as a 17-year-old.
Jorge Masvidal tells to learn another thing besides a a good sucker punching
Watch this flashback clip below from Ariel Helwani’s THE MMA HOUR as Masvidal talks about an elementary outcome of street fighting that at least helps Masvidal to get out of any hostile situation. While sucker punches are something looked down upon as a sign of cowardness in a fight, Jorge Masvidal flexes on it to have the best execution technique for it possible, and for certain reasons he does, that which he thinks are valid.
“I am really known for like in my area of Westchester, Miami, Florida, I am known like I have one of the best sucker punches in the business, you know?… If you’re a real street dude you know that you don’t tell somebody ‘Hey, me and you outside’ You might get shot, you might get killed. You learn to have like a really good sucker punch and a really good 50-yard dash,” says Masvidal.
What do you make of Masvidal’s take on sucker punches and how good he is at it? Do you agree with it? Masvidal was recently released after he was taken into custody for the aforementioned incident that happened earlier this week, so do you think Masvidal should settle his business with Covington inside the Octagon with a rematch now or should it stay outside of the UFC’s jurisdictions now to get them a rematch since both have fought before at UFC 272 and the fight was dominated and won by Covington?
