Professional aero-genius Adrian Newey announced his departure from Red Bull racing after being with the team for 18 years. The Briton had multiple eyes on him because of his decorated career with Red Bull. However, Newey hasn’t yet announced his next destination as the half of the 2024 F1 season is already over. There were rumors that he will join Ferrari, Mercedes or Aston Martin. But McLaren is the only that has shown zero interest in signing him.
McLaren chief Zak Brown claims Adrian Newey is a great engineer with a lot of success and any team would like to have him on their side. However, McLaren doesn’t need his services currently. He mentioned they will not sign Newey, the team and himself is very happy with the outcome they have been receiving so far. This is despite the fact that the American respects Newey’s work a lot and there’s no one closer to him in the field.
We’re not going to sign Adrian, I’m very happy with the team. Adrian is a great friend, huge talent, [his] resume second to none.Zak Brown told on BBC.com
Brown emphasized confidence in his team’s abilities. He believed they could achieve their goals and win the world championship with the members they currently have. Therefore, Brown decided there’s no need for new additions in the team. Their focus is on working hard together to reach their ultimate goal of becoming world champions.
We can get the job done. I’m happy with the race team we have and we’re going to try to win the world championship with the team sitting here todayZak Brown added.
McLaren surpasses expectations by reaching 2025 goals one year before
McLaren has been performing outstanding since past races. Both drivers are on the podium very often, scoring crucial points for the team. Lando Norris is close to Max Verstappen in the standings and could overtake him if Red Bull’s issues persist. Zak Brown expected McLaren to reach their current level of performance by 2025.
He was pleasantly surprised that the team has progressed faster than he anticipated. Even though they’re ahead of schedule, he’s not complaining and is happy with the team’s achievements. Brown acknowledged that this early success is a positive development for McLaren and reflected the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
I thought we might get where we are now by 2025. I didn't think we would be where we are now in 2024. But I'm not complaining.Zak Brown stated
Certainly, Zak Brown claims the upcoming races would be even more interesting and exciting to watch, as McLaren would probably get the lead. The first race after the summer break that is the Dutch GP will be exciting for fans and the F1 community. The battle between Red Bull and McLaren will be neck-to-neck in upcoming races
