Former World No. 1 Venus Williams was in attendance for the premiere of the upcoming Hollywood sports drama film ‘Challengers’. The film stars Zendaya alongside Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist in the leading roles in the movie that shows the trio as tennis players.

Zendaya plays the role of Tashi Duncan, a fictional tennis player whose career ended early due to injuries. She then turns coach for her husband Art Donaldson portrayed by Faist. O’Connor stars as Patrick Zweig, one of the biggest rivals of Donaldson.

The movie has garnered quite a buzz from sports fans globally along with the popularity of its stunning star cast. As the movie premiered in Los Angeles on 17th April, Williams was one of the celebrities in attendance for the movie.

As Zendaya was busy with press duties, she was stunned by the news of Williams’ arrival. A big fan of Serena Williams and her elder sis, the 27-year-old was stunned upon hearing the news. Her mouth was left wide open as the reporter informed her the 7-time singles Grand Slam champ had arrived.

The Challengers star cast was on a global press tour that had stops in Paris, Milan, Rome, and London. With the movie based around tennis, questions about the sport were obvious and Zendaya fangirled over the two Williams sisters for their legendary careers.

Apart from the global spotlight on the movie, tennis fans have been closely following the promotional activities. This has led to the actors making appearances at various tournament sites. Zendaya along with her boyfriend Tom Holland was spotted at the 2024 Indian Wells Open.

The actress was also seen with her other two co-stars at the recently concluded 2024 Monte Carlo Masters. They attended the semis clash between Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tstisipas. Throughout the promo tour, Zendaya’s outfits have been tennis-inspired with subtle additions to her dresses.

In the after-party of the Los Angeles premiere, Zendaya was seen in the tennis ball yellow colored dress. Earlier in Monaco, Zendaya was seen in a dress similar to Althea Gibson‘s outfit in which she won the 1957 Wimbledon Championships.

In Monaco, she attended the match in full whites as fans were left melting. In another red carpet appearance, her outfit had twin rackets embroidered on the dress as well.

The movie Challengers releases on 26th April 2024 globally. The reviews following the premieres have been quite good and have surely increased the interest of fans.
