Zidane surprised at the increasing number of injuries at Madrid

Real Madrid defeated Valencia 2-0 comfortably at home but the biggest talking point other than the result an injury. Dani Carvajal went off injured in the 28th minute after taking a knock in his ankle.
This was Carvajal’s first return to the starting lineup since his previous muscle injury which kept him out for a month. This is assumed to be a relapse of the previous injury and left Zidane baffled.

Real Madrid already have a number of players out injured including Ramos, Hazard, Militao, Rodrygo, Odriozola , Marcelo and Valverde. Zidane has used Castilla players to make up his squad in the recent games because of their absence.
Real Madrid coach was asked about the increasing number of injuries in his post-match conference but the coach failed to provide an explanation.
“I don’t understand it,” Zidane said. “That’s a lot of injuries. I’m worried.”
“When I lose a player, it annoys me as a coach. It’s a relapse – I feel for Carva. He played a good 25 minutes and I’m annoyed because he’s very important for us.
“But I can’t explain the reasoning [behind the injury problems] to you. As a coach, having injuries is the worst. They’ve come back to hurt us again.
“I only hope that [Carvajal’s injury] is a small one. We’ll see what the injury is and for how long he’ll be out for.”
Real Madrid will hope for the quick return of Carvajal and the other players who are out injured. The Champions league fixture against Atalanta looms large and Zidane will want a full squad at his disposal.
