“Get him some help!” – Zion Williamson drops 40 points in his first-ever post-season game in Pelicans’ play-in loss against Lakers, fans react
Zion Williamson responded to his critics and brought in the second 40 point performance of his career.

Zion Williamson drops 40 points against Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans still lose play-in game
The critics were out for Zion Williamson from the very first day he stepped onto the hardwood floor. As was the case, the superstar had injuries and inconsistent play to feed those critics. But not tonight, as he took over the game with a playoff-high 40 points. In doing so he did silence those critics to a certain degree. However, those points did not matter against the Los Angeles Lakers as the New Orleans Pelicans lost the play-in game.
The New Orleans Pelicans lost to the Los Angeles Lakers a couple of days ago, setting up what will be the deciding game for the 7th seed. The way the 39-year-old LeBron James locked him down, led critics to openly demand a response game from the former No. 1 overall pick. He did respond well, dropping 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead all players in the game. If only his teammates shot better and helped him out.

The last and only time Zion Williamson recorded 40+ points in a game, was back in 2022. Add to that he had struggled to stay in shape in the initial part of the season. Even though he worked his body back into game fitness, his performances were inconsistent.
But tonight, when it mattered, the big-bodied 6′ 6″ star came out to play. He had to leave the game with a few minutes left and the score tied at 95. Had he stayed in the game, it is highly possible he could at least fight for the win. However, had his teammates shot better, his performance would not have been in vain.
Fans demand help for Zion Williamson
It is not like Zion Williamson just has half-decent players around him. Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum are borderline All-Star caliber players. He also has a decent set of youngsters improving as the season went on. The Pelicans also have a decent bench when compared to other Western Conference teams. Yet, they were of no help to at least provide meaningful numbers to aid their star player’s incredible performance.
No wonder basketball fans were livid on social media, calling out the organization to do something about this problem. Check out some of their reactions below:
Now the Pelicans have to go through one more play-in game to ensure their season does not end this early. Hopefully, Zion Williamson’s teammates will be able to contribute to that goal.
