16 year old Quincy Wilson made his Olympic debut on Friday by running in the 4x400m relay event at the Paris Olympics. He won a gold but that was mundane because he was more worried about school.
Quincy Wilson posted on his twitter account a picture of him casually wearing the gold medal. What broke the internet was his caption. He gave major Peter Parker vibes when he upsettingly shared that he had school in 2 and a half weeks. For emphasis, he added a heartbreak emoji next to the text. Well the internet was not gonna pretend they did not hear that.
Wilson ran the first leg of the qualifying round of the 4*400 m relay. The team claimed third place, securing themselves a spot at the finals of the Paris Olympics. The final team consisted of Rai Benjamin, Christopher Bailey, Vernon Norwood, and Bryce Deadmon. While Wilson did not run in the finals, he did take the team to the finals, therefore, he won the gold with them.
Wilson was the youngest male athlete to participate and in turn, win a gold in the Olympic Games in US track and field history. Before him, the record was jointly held by Jim Ryun and Erriyon Knighton. Both were 17 years old when they made their debut at the Olympics.
