George Kittle once again urged the NFL to make natural grass mandatory at every stadium. The San Francisco 49ers tight end made this plea while watching the 2026 FIFA World Cup final match between Spain and Argentina at New Jersey Stadium.

Kittle posted his first tweet before kickoff. He wrote: “Grass looks great at MetLife! Can we keep it that way NFL? Would appreciate it thanks.”

Like Kittle, many football players have requested that the league ditch artificial turf and switch to natural grass. Playing on natural grass would reduce the risk of getting injured.

The league hasn’t seriously considered ratifying it because turf helps the sport retain its fast-paced environment. Moreover, natural grass is hard to maintain compared to turf.

Before the start of the World Cup, FIFA told host stadiums to switch to natural grass for the games. After the games ended, they reverted to turf, with the New Jersey Stadium poised to join them in a few days.

But before that, the stadium hosted the final, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Spain. After the final whistle, Kittle posted another tweet.

Grass still looks great! Let’s use grass instead of turf NFL?? Please, thanks guys.

One commenter noted that grass would not grow in Jersey’s harsh winter. Kittle quickly reminded him that Lambeau Stadium in Green Bay and Soldier Field in Chicago have grass.

Kittle is correct. Nearly half of the NFL stadiums have grass, including the 49ers’ home stadium.

Kittle received backing from a New York football star. Breece Hall, running back of the New York Jets, tweeted a simple “please.”

George Kittle is the star tight end of the Niners and among the best in his position in the league. But when he’s not focusing on football, Kittle likes to enjoy life to the fullest.

As there’s still a week left before training camp, Kittle traveled to the Big Apple to enjoy the WC final with his wife, Claire Kittle, and some of their friends. GK and his dude friends took their shirts off and enjoyed the sunny New York weather by drinking beer.

A few days ago, Kittle announced that he and his 49ers teammate Kyle Juszczyk visited Panama to receive stem cell treatment.

We spent a few days in Panama at the Stem Cell Institute with Dr. Paz, Dr. Riordan and their team. Grateful for how they took care of us and for the work they’re doing in regenerative medicine. Thanks for having us!! Stem Cell Panama thanks for having us.
