The upcoming week 7 is bringing along one of the most thrilling matchups, which many would call a repeat of Super Bowl LVIII as the Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers. Many consider this a second chance for the latter to outperform the former, however even if they do; it would in no manner contribute to the Super Bowl chances of either team.
Regardless of the outcome of the game, the Niners’ head coach Kyle Shanahan wants to enter the game with competitive spirit without being intimated by the traumatic history against the two-time Super Bowl defending champions. Especially when it comes to the Super Bowl as the 49ers have been outscored by the Chiefs twice for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Compared to last season, the Chiefs are in a strong position with a five-game winning streak and coming off a bye week. Since they have improved their receiving squad, it has changed their entire game and provided quarterback Patrick Mahomes with more reliable targets on the football field.

Meanwhile, with the absence of star RB Christian McCaffrey, linebacker Dre Greenlaw, kicker Jake Moody, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and offensive lineman John Feliciano; the 49ers have struggled on the field and standing with a 3-3 record. To keep their Super Bowl aspirations alive, they need a victory on Sunday and their head coach believes it can be achieved by not giving the match so much hype.
Kyle Shanahan urges his team to stay focused ahead of SNF game
Following Wednesday’s practice, Shanahan addressed the media to talk about the thrilling upcoming Sunday Night Football Match. While acknowledging that they can’t be ignorant towards their previous disappointing history with the Chiefs, he doesn’t want his team to put all their focus on it, when they should be in fighting spirit.
No matter how the game concludes, San Francisco can’t change their history with Kansas City. But what they can do is get a victory as it would improve their record to 4-3, which they desperately need to smooth things after most of their star players are out due to injuries.
