The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been entertaining cricket fans over the past 15 years and it is one of the world’s enormous tournaments. It is a grand spectacle where a battle takes place for the playoffs against 8 teams (10 teams from 2022) from different parts of the country.
While we talk about T20 cricket, it’s all about hitting the ball right and scoring runs for the team to win the match. But if some have stood out and completed exceptionally well, there tends to be some failure too.
Some of the successful IPL legends like Glenn Maxwell, Jacques Kallis, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir, and Aaron Finch are in the list of top 20 players with the most ducks in IPL. But interestingly, none of the overseas players feature in the top 10.

Piyush Chawla (14 Ducks)
Piyush Chawla has majorly played in the IPL as a bowler and there is no question about his abilities with the ball in hand. The veteran leg-spinner is among the highest wickettakers in IPL history. Chawla also has 19 sixes and 55 fours in his IPL career. However, the 34-year-old also has an understandable but unwanted record to his name. Chawla has 14 ducks under his belt in 174 IPL games.
Mandeep Singh (15 Ducks)
The Punjab cricketer made his IPL debut in 2010 with Kings XI Punjab. Mandeep Singh then played for a handful of other teams but failed to leave an impression. Despite making 111 appearances for different teams, Singh has failed to score 2000 runs. The batter’s inability to spend time in the middle is one of the factors behind his abysmal IPL numbers. The number of ducks under his belt also testify Mandeep’s issues in the initial few deliveries. The right-handed batter has as many as 15 ducks so far in his IPL career.
Sunil Narine (15 Ducks)
The KKR veteran all-rounder who is known for his mystical deliveries also played quite a few impactful knocks for his team as well. While Sunil Narine finds his name on the list of players with fastest fifties in IPL, the KKR player also has the third most number of ducks in the tournament history. Narine has registered 14 ducks in his 11-year-old IPL career so far.
Rohit Sharma (16 Ducks)
Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful players in the IPL both as a batsman and as a captain. He is the holder of a plethora of records in the tournament. However, one such record is an unwanted one as he has the second-highest number of ducks in the tournament’s history. In 243 matches played, Rohit has registered as many as 16 ducks, three of which came in IPL 2023.
Dinesh Karthik (17 Ducks)
The Indian wicketkeeper batter always had that knack of playing quickfire innings. However, this meant Karthik would get out on nought quite a few times. As a result, the Tamil Nadu cricketer has the unwanted record of most number of ducks in IPL history. Dinesh Karthik has been dismissed without scoring on 17 instances out of 221 times he has walked out to bat.
