“I am 100% not looking to stop”- Johanna Konta refutes the possibility of retiring anytime soon; is pumped for the upcoming season
Johanna Konta

The World No.14, Johanna Konta, cliched only a handful of wins in the shortened year of 2020. She falls in the top-tier of tennis, but unfortunately didn’t reap results which are indicative of this in the past year.
Konta suffered first round losses at the French Open, Top Seed Open, St. Petersburg Open and the Australian Open. However, she advanced to the semi-finals of Monterrey Open and Cincinnati Masters. Even so, the accumulative result of her performances in 2020 did not allow for her to contend at the WTA Finals from the first time since 2015.
Further, the Brit will turn 30 in May of 2021. This has led to Konta pondering over her retirement from tennis for the first time.
Konta’s future plans

In an interview with Metro News, Konta revealed that she isn’t looking to bid adieu to tennis anytime soon. Rather, she is ready to get stride back on the courts.
“That’s the first time anyone has ever put that into conversation that I am turning 30 next year. In terms of longevity, I’m definitely motivated, inspired, and excited to play. I am 100% not looking to stop in the next couple of years for sure. I’m training now and see myself definitely playing another season after that,” she said.
While Konta has assured that she’ll not hang up the racquet in the coming years, she is also one who is going to let the circumstances themselves decide as to what path she follows.
“I’m going to listen to my body, my heart and soul, see where I am in my life. I would like to have children so obviously that will be a considering factor in how long I play, how I do things. But yeah, let’s look forward to 2021! And then let’s see where we are,” she concluded.
