Russell Westbrook registers triple-double to set new franchise record

Russell Westbrook makes the perfect start to his 2020-21 season by making a brand-new record for the Washington Wizard. In the 25-year history, no Wizard has ever registered a triple-double within the first 3 quarters except Westbrook today. It would be fair to say, that it seems like the Westbrook from Oklahoma City Thunder has returned, with full motivation and charm on the court. Having registered 21 points in the entire game, Wizards only concern to take from this game is letting the match slip from their grip in the last quarter.
Westbrook seemed like he has played with his Wizard teammates many a time sin the past. With 15 assists solely registered against his name, Westbrook also had 11 rebounds in the 6-point loss over Philadelphia 76ers. Although Westbrook struggled from behind the three-point line and his field-goal accuracy remained low, the 32-YO was great at his playmaking and defense.
Russell Westbrook’s triple-double created history for Washington Wizards
It wasn’t all Westbrook’s performance on the offensive end that helped Wizards take the lead in the first 3 quarters. But having to be able to defend against the big guys, like Simmons and Embiid made Westbrook’s performance even more memorable.
Talking about the 76ers, Seth Curry had a decent first regular season outing as he scored 13 points for his franchise. But both the former Los Angeles Lakers players’ Danny Green and Dwight Howard had a below average performance for the 76ers. Getting early game-time seemed to not have gone down well with these two as they were slow as compared to the rest of the pace of the game.
The major highlight apart from Westbrook’s performance for the Washington Wizards had been how Beal and Westbrook combined. Bradley Beal scored 31 points, with great game play links with Westbrook to manoeuvre all around the court with ease. As the Wizards would face the Orlando Magic in couple of days, let’s see how they overcome their shortcomings.
