Jimmie Johnson dominated NASCAR when it was at its peak popularity.

Jimmie Johnson
NASCAR has named Jimmie Johnson to the 75 greatest drivers list. The seven times Cup champion, along with 24 other new entrants, will officially be inducted into the 50 greatest-ever lists made in 1998 at Darlington. They will be honored during the Darlington throwback weekend. NASCAR saved the best for last, as he is the last to make the list.
He is one of the nine active drivers on the list. Johnson is the only part-time driver among them. The full-time drivers are Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Joey Logano. Except for Denny Hamlin, all others are Cup series champions.
The LEGACY MC co-owner is one of the most deserving candidates to make the list, as he is one of the top 3 greatest drivers ever in the sport. Johnson was among the first to know they had made it to the list as his former crew chief Chad Knaus presented him the honor during testing for the Garage 56 Le Mans project.
Johnson was scouted to race for Hendrick Motorsports by team owner Rick Hendrick and legend Jeff Gordon. He proved that the duo made the right call by securing a win in the 13th race with his team. Johnson dominated the sport when it was at its peak in terms of competition and fame. He retired from full-time racing in 2020 and pursued a part-time career in the IndyCar series. He returned as an owner/part-time driver with LEGACY MC towards the end of 2022.
The iconic No:48 drivers exploit in the Cup includes 83 Cup race wins (6th all-time), and one Xfinity series win. He has won all the crown jewel events and is a winner at Martinsville and Dover. The 2022 Indy500 Rookie of the Year has won 6 off-road racing championships as well. His 5 back-to-back title triumphs is a NASCAR record that might never be broken.
