Sergio Perez has been in the firing line recently for his mediocre performances in the RB19. Max Verstappen has been able to put the car through the wringer at every race so far, whereas the Mexican starlet has found it extremely tough to match him. Keeping this in view, Sky Sports Analyst Ted Kravitz has made it known that Daniel Ricciardo is the obvious choice to replace Perez at Red Bull.

Sergio Perez is currently on a downward spiral at the pinnacle of motor racing, and it has caught the eye of almost everyone in the paddock. Several pundits have shared their thoughts on him, and the reigning World Champion even took an indirect shot at him after his dismal performance during the Canadian GP qualifying session. While everyone at Red Bull is trying to keep it as cool as possible, the consensus is that things are dicey on the Milton-Keynes-based team.

F1analyst Ted Kravitz, while talking about who could replace Perez, chose the former 8-time Grand Prix winner, Daniel Ricciardo. He believes the former McLaren driver should be given a go at Red Bull if the team decides to part ways with Sergio Perez. As things stand, the latter is contracted to the Austrian outfit until the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

He said, “Ricciardo is the obvious one if you’re not ready to promote Liam Lawson, who’s next in the Red Bull staircase of talent, and they don’t think Yuki Tsunoda or Nyck de Vries are quite right for Red Bull Racing, which Helmut Mark and Christian Horner have pretty much made clear, then give Ricciardo a go.”

While a lot is being made about Sergio Perez’s place on the mighty Red Bull F1 team, he needs to focus on his driving and improving as much as possible behind the wheel of the RB19. He has been pretty much outclassed by Max Verstappen this season, and he desperately needs to get his mojo back to start closing the gap in the Drivers Championship.

As things stand, the 33-year-old has managed 126 points in the season so far whereas his teammate has put on board an impressive 195 points in the same number of F1 outings. This is a huge gap in the race for the 2023 Championship, and from Austria onward, Perez has no option but to give his 110 percent in all the remaining races.
