The Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers played each other in week 2 on MNF. It was an exciting game throughout with the Steelers coming out on top with a hard-earned victory. Both offenses had lackluster performances. The Browns QB Deshaun Watson had a poor game. He signed with the team in the 2022 offseason, but did not play more than 6 games due to a suspension. He entered into the 2023 NFL season with a lot of doubt surrounding his ability to deliver for the Browns.
After a win to start their 2023 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals, Watson and the Browns struggled against the Steelers and lost the game 22-26. ESPN analyst and former NFL player, Shannon Sharpe, in the latest episode of his show First Take, said that there are a lot of expectations on Watson after signing a five-year $230 million, fully guaranteed contract in 2022.
“He did not look good last night,” Sharpe said during the show. “I understand that Deshaun [Watson] was away from the game for two years, but when you have that kind of contract, the more money you make, the more is expected of you.” He further continued by saying, “When you got 230 million and it’s guaranteed, there is a lot expected of Deshaun Watson. I haven’t seen enough of the consistency from Deshaun Watson to make me think that he can carry the load.”
Watson’s contract makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. He and the Browns will hope to bounce back from this loss as soon as possible. They play their next game against the Tennessee Titans on September 24.

Deshaun Watson says he is ‘still coming along’ after a poor performance against the Steelers
Deshaun Watson did not play well against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. He knows that. After the game, Watson opened up about his play on Monday and what he feels about his game going forward.

“Still coming along,” Watson said. “I feel like, tonight, it was s—– as far as that. There’s some plays that we capitalized and we did good, but as far as my part, it’s not good enough. I put that on me.” Watson was responsible for three of the Browns’ four turnovers. He talked about those turnovers. “The first play, yeah, we can get into the tactics of receiver running out and putting the ball out, and this, that and the third, but I got to give him a better ball. The forced fumble for a touchdown for them.”
Watson threw for 235 yards and had one touchdown and one interception. He lost the football twice which proved to be costly as his team lost the game 22-26. The Browns will play the Tennessee Titans in their next game and Watson will hope to have a better outing against them.
