As the NBA off-season gains momentum, Damian Lillard‘s future with the Portland Trail Blazers hangs by a thread. Each day brings a fresh wave of trade rumors swirling around the star point guard. And this time around, Lillard himself has dropped a subtle hint that suggests he may be considering a relocation from Portland to Miami.
A renowned Miami Heat fan page on Twitter called ‘MiamiClutchPE’ posted a short video of his messages with Lillard. In the exchange, the user wrote, “Please know that we love you in Miami and want you here badly.” While it’s not uncommon for NBA fanatics to drop such texts to players, what caught everyone’s attention was Lillard’s decision to “like” the message.
Lillard put in a trade request earlier this off-season and named the Miami Heat as his preferred trade destination. However, the Blazers have shown repeated reluctance to fulfill their star player’s demand. While the Blazers have reportedly ramped up Lillard trade talks with several teams, the Heat appear to be losing the race for his talents.
With the Heat seemingly losing their hold on the unfolding situation, the Toronto Raptors have emerged as a serious contender to trade for Lillard. Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported Monday that Toronto is “confident they can maneuver their way to the front of the line, past the Miami Heat.” However, several insiders have reported that while the Raptors’ interest in Lillard is real, this could potentially be a strategic move to gain leverage over the Heat in potential negotiations.
Heat offered a trade package centered around Tyler Herro for Damian Lillard
The Miami Heat have been showing clear interest in landing Damian Lillard since the off-season tipped off. In fact, NBA insider Marc Spears recently unveiled the initial trade package that the Heat had put forward to the Blazers.

According to Spears, the package was centered around Tyler Herro. However, the Blazers did not fancy it and reportedly rejected the offer. “The Heat initially offered a trade package that included sharpshooter Tyler Herro and two first-round draft picks, a source said,” Spears wrote.
Although several players would need to be involved to match the salaries, the Blazers evidently found the offer less than appealing. Furthermore, it appears improbable that the Blazers would be keen on obtaining Tyler Herro in return, especially considering they already have a young backcourt featuring Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson.
As it currently stands, Damian Lillard’s future with the Blazers remains uncertain, and the Miami Heat’s prospects of acquiring the star point guard also hang in the balance. The upcoming weeks will prove pivotal in determining the next chapter in Lillard’s career.
